Purpose

In this article, we will explore how to use airline credits following a cancellation.

Using Airline Credits

When searching for a new flight, an indicator will show against an airline where an unused credit could be used:

When the booking has been completed, we have automation which checks the unused ticket database and applies these to applicable bookings of equal or greater value to the credit, so that credits are not wasted.

If the value of the credit is higher than the ticket fare, the credit is not automatically applied, but stored again for a future booking of equal or greater value. This applies to all online bookings.

Tip: If you explicitly want to ensure an unused ticket credit is applied on a new booking,
you can call the Amex GBT offline team to process the have them force the credit to be applied to the new booking.

Please note that the excess value amount not applied to the new ticket fare will be lost (i.e. Credit of $700 - New ticket of $300 = Lost value of $400).
